Open Arts at 25

A look at the impact of Open Arts on the lives of people with disabilities in Northern Ireland over the past twenty five years.

Open Arts runs participative arts activities and events to enable disabled people to develop their creativity and artistic practice. It began as a research project in 1988 and became a charitable company in 1992, one of the first dedicated arts and disability organisations in Northern Ireland.

Open Arts is a disabled-led organisation with most board members and core staff having a disability. A number of freelance artists who engage in the delivery of programmes are also disabled. Their vision is of a society that actively values and promotes the creativity and artistic contribution of disabled people and their mission is to inspire and support the creativity and artistic development of disabled people.

Completed in 2017 and contains archive from the Northern Visions archives.
